![]() ![]() The prayer required two human sacrifices and a wolf to please the Gods: the humans, representing the moon and the sun, and the wolf representing mother nature, also known as the Earth/Gaea. The villagers of Tsukishima Island would gather around the moon temple to ward off the evil spirits within the mountains where they live, and pray to their Moon God hoping to gain a blessing from the Gods or obtain a better harvest season next year. It was the night of the Blood Moon Eclipse, a fascinating natural occurrence that only happens twice a year, when the sun, moon, and earth are all aligned.
